Amazing Grace — Bagpipe Sheet Music
Time Signature: 3/4 | Key: Two sharps (standard bagpipe key)
Amazing Grace is one of the best-known bagpipe tunes in the world and an excellent first tune for beginners. Its slow, steady 3/4 time and limited range make it very approachable. The melody stays primarily in the upper half of the scale.
Tune Structure
Amazing Grace is typically played as a 32-bar tune (two 16-bar sections, or four 8-bar phrases). In pipe band settings it is often repeated several times, sometimes with variation. The melody is virtually the same in both sections.

Tips for Learning This Tune
- Learn the note sequence without any embellishments first.
- The transition from D to High G is a common stumble point — practice it separately until smooth.
- In 3/4 time, feel a gentle one-two-three pulse. The melody naturally lines up with the beats if you count carefully.
- Add a High G grace note to the opening Low A once the bare tune is learned.
